Within the framework of the Latvian Quantum Initiative, research activities are carried out in the following directions:
- quantum algorithms and software;
- quantum sensors and devices;
- quantum communication and communication security.
Currently, the Latvian Quantum Initiative unites research groups representing two Latvia's largest universities – the University of Latvia (UL) and Riga Technical University (RTU) and two independent institutes – the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia and the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Latvia.
